MUSIC GOOD...VIDEO, NOT SO MUCH

I figured with this being the very first show it wasn't going to be 100%. The musicians were very good generally although I think they missed a lot of Prince's big hits. There was a lot of issues with the video portion however. Abrupt intermission and the ending, which they had Purple Rain playing as part of the video was horrible. The conductor was obviously annoyed and the concert abruptly ended. A sad way to honor such a great musician.

DISAPPOINTING

Flew in from Denver just to see this, and my main takeaway is that the brilliant Questlove rushed this production. The orchestral arrangements were great, but the sound was muddy and I couldn’t make out the electric guitar at all. The electric fiddler was way over the top to the point of making us uncomfortable, the videos were blurry, repeated over and over, and jarringly did not match the rhythm of the music that was playing. But - it was wonderful to be surrounded by other Prince fans celebrating his life and music, and for that reason I’m glad we went.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE

This show is an extremely hokey attempt to bring Prince’s music to life. It felt as though the show was rushed and the sound was horrific. This is coming from a touring sound tech with major labels. Trust me, don’t waste your money on this poor tribute band.
