I am writing this review as I was unsure to attend. I need reviews online to really gave
me insight. SO! I give it a 5 for sure! If you are on the edge- go! The musicians were
excellent! Any true Prince “Love” that has been to Prince’s concerts would say it was
amazing and at the same time would be slightly unfair & judge too. The
acoustics/microphone strained to magnify the musician’s unbelievable talent the
way Prince did. When the concert started I became teary eyed and chuckled at
myself as I realized I started comparing it to Prince's concerts & sound. I imagined
Prince at rehearsal saying "No no no ~we need to fix this sound a bit before we go
on the road.” It is not easy to play for Prince! I was in the 6th row in a very intimate
setting & I could not see the sax, trumpets, French horns, key board, drummer. I was
hoping they would be up on the screen a bit -but then I stopped myself & thought
~ok- maybe they are being discreet & Prince loved to show his musicians off – so
there I went again & had to stop myself. If you purchase an upper mezzanine front
row seat you will see all of the musicians perfectly- I highly recommend that. To
answer the negative comments/reviews about the Purple Rain ending with bad
pictures/video. I think the Prince estate blurred it on purpose – not sure why. (Note
to Questlove -Stevie Nicks did an amazing Prince Tribute hologram pictures at her
concert, maybe the Estate will approve using it). I am sure Questlove did not have
much say on what the estate gave him. I loved the ending! I was too busy paying
attention to the musicians and music. Thank you for your music selection Questlove-
on point! I absolutely loved the choice of music.
This was the first time I have been able to bring myself to attend anything since
Prince passed April 21, 2016. I did not want a tribute, copycat, half of him or
something not up to “Par”- I was afraid I would “ugly cry “the whole time or leave in”
deep disappointment”. I did not! The instrumentalists were heart felt and they
wanted us to celebrate Prince & not be sad for our deep deep loss. We all know
Prince was not done yet and he had amazing things to do, give and create for us. I
felt he was there with us shaking his head and I know I was having a beautiful time! I
felt deeply connected to the artists on the stage by the end of the show. I even wore
my 1998 lilac purple gown with silk velour flower overlay and purple silk shoes. My
son had a classic purple shirt on. 😊 I can tell you my 17-year-old son was my date
and he loved it. I just a little 14-year-old girl who already loved” Little Red Corvette”
& “I Wanna Be Your Lover” when “When Doves Cry “came out 34 years ago. Right
then I made the real connection to who he was & that was it for me! Will never be
anyone else like Prince! No other! Thank you to each & every one of the musicians &
Questlove who gave me this night. I really hope you are having a beautiful time!
Thank you for your Lovely gift.

PRINCE SYMPHONY CONCERT IN CHICAGO
THE SHOW WAS GREAT. THE MUSICIAN WERE OUTSTANDING. I REALLY ENJOYED
MYSELF. IT JUST SHOWED HIS MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE. IT WAS NICE TO SEE PEOPLE
FROM ALL AGE GROUPS THERE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE ORCHESTRA ANOTHER TIME.

FANTASTIC
Prince fans will NOT be disappointed! We
danced and sung as if Prince performed it
himself. The talent of this orchestra is
unparallel.

It was a fantastic show. The video production could be better but
that's not why anyone went.

MY FIRST PRINCE-RELATED EVENT SINCE 2016...
I was very reluctant to attended this event because I'm still in pain from Prince's untimely
departure. My good friends (thanks Keeta and Ella) convinced me to go and I am now glad that I
did. Musically, it was superb...how could anyone go wrong with a catalog like Prince's to chose
from. I do wish they could have performed songs from the last decades of his life. I would have
like to have given this review 5-star rating but the sound from the Chicago Theater was bad (not
in a good way) and the supporting video/screen captures could have been presented better. But
for a longtime (and 4Ever) admire of Prince the symphony touched my soul. I needed this! If the
Symphony come to your town , GO!

LONGTIME FAN
I enjoyed the music and the band was fabulous. I was hoping for songs from musicology. Maybe next time. I believe Prince was smiling down from heaven.

ENJOYED VERY MUCH
It was a great show. Best to think of it
as an interpretation of his music and
definitely not cover band type of
performance.
I share the disappointment in the
video. There wasn’t enough of them
for my liking and I didn’t understand
why some of them were so blurry.
Perhaps that was not planned? The
audio could have been better, as well.
Some tracks appeared to be layered
over another.
All in all, a great performance with
excellent musicians.

MUSIC GOOD...VIDEO, NOT SO MUCH
I figured with this being the very first show it wasn't going to be 100%. The musicians
were very good generally although I think they missed a lot of Prince's big hits. There
was a lot of issues with the video portion however. Abrupt intermission and the ending,
which they had Purple Rain playing as part of the video was horrible. The conductor
was obviously annoyed and the concert abruptly ended. A sad way to honor such a
great musician.

DISAPPOINTING
Flew in from Denver just to see this, and my
main takeaway is that the brilliant Questlove
rushed this production. The orchestral
arrangements were great, but the sound was
muddy and I couldn’t make out the electric
guitar at all. The electric fiddler was way over
the top to the point of making us
uncomfortable, the videos were blurry,
repeated over and over, and jarringly did not
match the rhythm of the music that was
playing. But - it was wonderful to be
surrounded by other Prince fans celebrating
his life and music, and for that reason I’m glad
we went.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE
This show is an extremely hokey attempt to bring Prince’s music to life. It felt as though the show was rushed and the sound was horrific. This is coming from a touring sound tech with major labels. Trust me, don’t waste your money on this poor tribute band.
