Longstanding resident playwright Bryan Harnetiaux brings this fascinating new play to the Spokane Civic Theater, premiering this April for a strictly limited run! Focusing on a mystery writer who travels back to his hometown for inspiration and faces unexpected truths, Squalor is a heartfelt exploration of the impact of childhood on the rest of our lives.
Mystery novel author William Kasinski has enjoyed a very successful career. But it seems after 50 years in the game, the great is losing his touch. With his professional life in danger of running out, William heads back to his hometown with plans of starting a memoir. But a chance meeting with a young adult writer at the start of their career leads to a resurfacing of long-lost childhood memories - ones that William must reckon with, and will force him to re-tread the path of his life.
